Royal Pines had a severe problem with aquatic weed growth making the
lakes unattractive to golfers and the connecting residential estate.
Also, complaints during summer of the smell of stagnant water and
outbreaks of blue green algae had risen to serious level.
This situation required a solution that both looked good and also
controlled the aquatic weed growth. A combination of Splash Fountains
and RIO Water Mixers were used.
Circulation and mixing are the most efficient methods for treating
a large lake. By turning over the bottom layers, oxygen is distributed
in the lake more evenly and will thus expedite the efficient break
down of organics. Sufficient movement across the bottom will also
prevent most aquatic weeds from growing.
In deep areas the RIO mixer was used and in shallow areas (less than
1.5m) the BRIO mixer can be used.
Silver Perch fingerlings (25.000) were also added to the lake to help
regain the natural ecosystem. Silver Perch are used as an additional
biological control as they are very aggressive feeders and will consume
most aquatic weeds. |

| - RESORT WATER PURIFICATION |

|
 |
 |
This seaside resort was built surrounding
a man made saltwater lake. The lake is used for water actives including
sailing, canoeing and swimming. The problem was low dissolved oxygen
levels and stagnant water. During the summer months the clarity of
the water was so poor that you couldn't see your toes when standing
in water up to your ankles. Eight EOLO aerators were installed, two
under each of the four resort structures. They were installed under
these structures so that they would be undetectable to resort guests
and did not present a safety hazard. Now the water clarity is excellent,
so much so that the resort has realised how many fish exist in the
lake. They have since started a fish feeding activity that the guests
just love. |
